Glossary

Terms used throughout this manual.

ADR
Average Daily Rate. Room revenue divided by rooms sold.
Add-on
An extra charged on top of the room — airport pickup, extra bed, laundry.
Audit log
A record of who did what on a folio or invoice — void, settle, edit, rate override — tied to the staff member and device that did it. A paid add-on on top of Pro. See Audit log.
Ageing
How long an unpaid bill has been outstanding, bucketed as Current, 1–30, 31–60 and over 60 days. Measured on open bills only. See Credit accounts.
City ledger
Money owed to the property by a company — a corporate client, travel agent or event organiser — rather than by a guest in a room. Zitlin calls it Credit accounts. See Credit accounts.
Folio
The running account of charges and payments attached to a booking. Sometimes called the guest ledger, as against the city ledger above.
ARI
Availability, Rates and Inventory — the three things a channel manager keeps in step between a property and its OTAs.
Calendar sync
The lighter, one-way alternative to the channel manager: Zitlin reads an OTA's calendar and blocks those dates. Dates only, no rates or bookings. See Channel manager.
Channel manager
Two-way sync between Zitlin and the OTAs: availability, rates and restrictions out, bookings in. See Channel manager.
Housekeeping task
One piece of cleaning, maintenance or inspection work, raised on a room or an event space. Completing it sets the room's status. See Housekeeping.
KOT
Kitchen Order Ticket. One round of food sent to the kitchen. See Restaurant.
Linked rooms
Two or more rooms that block each other when booked, for a space sold more than one way — a bedroom and the apartment containing it. See Property setup.
OTA
Online Travel Agency — Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia and similar.
Price mode
One of three prices a dish can carry, chosen per order. See Restaurant.
Rate plan
A named adjustment to the nightly rate, applied by choosing it on a booking. See Pricing.
Restriction
A date-range rule on when a room type can be booked — minimum or maximum stay, closed to arrival or departure, stop sell. Enforced on the booking engine and pushed to OTAs; front desk bookings ignore them. See Channel manager.
RevPAR
Revenue Per Available Room. Room revenue divided by rooms available, whether sold or not.
Room
An individual bookable room, apartment or house. Belongs to one room type. See Property setup.
Room status
The condition a room is in — Clean, Dirty or Maintenance. Housekeeping's own label: it never decides whether the room can be sold. See Housekeeping.
Room type
A kind of room sold interchangeably at the same nightly rate — Standard, Deluxe, Suite. Prices belong to the room type, not to individual rooms. See Property setup.
Seasonal override
A multiplier that moves rates over a date range, repeating every year. See Pricing.
Statement of account
The document sent to a company on credit: every charge and payment on their account, the ageing of what is open, and the closing balance. See Credit accounts.
Staff member
A person who signs into a shared terminal with a name and PIN, separate from the Team account the device itself is signed into. Part of Zitlin Pro. See Staff sign-in.
Cashier shift
One person's turn at one cash drawer, opened with a counted float and closed with a counted total. The difference between the two is the variance. See Cash drawer.
Opening float
The cash already in a drawer when a shift starts. Every figure at the end of the shift is measured from it. See Cash drawer.
Shift report
Every cash drawer opened on the same shift and date, rolled into one document: what the property took, split by payment method and by the person who took it. See Shift report.
Stop sell
A restriction that closes a room type on the OTAs only, leaving your own booking engine and front desk free to sell. See Channel manager.
Variance
The difference between the cash a cashier counted and the cash Zitlin expected in the drawer. Negative is short. See Cash drawer.
Weekday override
A multiplier applied to every occurrence of a given day of the week. See Pricing.
